TaiYi nine stars
TaiYi nine-star chart · time-space base and star array
TaiYi lays out a nine-palace base and places the nine stars onto it for a given moment, reading the time-space configuration of that moment against the matter being asked about. The chart is free and the engine's raw output can be checked; the RM38 is the written reading.

What TaiYi reads
The base is the nine palaces (Luoshu positions) and the nine stars are placed onto them for a given moment. What is read is not "what kind of person you are" but "which way this moment leans" — which is why a TaiYi chart is time-bound: the same question cast at different times yields different charts.
Its usual use is one concrete matter: whether it will go through, which direction to take, when to move. Because it is bound to a moment, it is a poor instrument for lifelong character reading, which was never its purpose.
How TaiYi differs from QiMen
Both cast for a moment, but they land differently: QiMen focuses on direction and remedy — locating the six harms, then stating what to move, what to place and when to do it; TaiYi focuses on the time-space base and how the nine stars array against it, reading the leaning of the configuration.
So if you want "what exactly to place and when to act", that is the QiMen remedy (RM88). If you want "how to read the configuration of this moment", that is TaiYi (RM38). Neither substitutes for the other.
Where free ends and paid begins
The nine-palace base, the star placements and the engine's raw output are free, no account needed. The RM38 is the written reading of the matter you ask about.
A TaiYi chart is only meaningful when tied to a specific moment and a specific question, so state the question clearly before buying a reading: the vaguer the question, the more generic the answer can only be.
Questions
method and scope
Does the TaiYi chart cost anything?
Casting is free and needs no account. The RM38 is the written reading for one specific matter.
TaiYi or QiMen — which one?
For a concrete remedy — what to place, when to act — choose the QiMen remedy (RM88). For reading the configuration of a moment, choose TaiYi (RM38). Different purposes; neither replaces the other.
Is it normal that the same question casts differently at different times?
Yes, and it is inherent: TaiYi casts for a moment. The question and the casting time belong together — a chart from yesterday does not answer today's matter.
